“Fun” Ship Weekend Sponsored by Carnival Cruiselines

November 11th, 2009

I just had a fabulous weekend in SD thanks to Carnival Cruiseline.  We stayed at the Marriott Gaslamp.  This Hotel is very urban and in the “hip’ part of town.  They have an awesome roof top  bar with beautiful views of the city and harbor. Right next to the hotel is the “Broken Yolk” The best place to eat breakfast!!!!! Homemade hearty breakfasts.

We spent 2 nights there, toured the sights of SD and had a wonderful dinner at the Coyote Cafe in Old Town.  Great Marguerita’s!  Drew Santiago of Carnival was a our host.  He was full of energy and kept me laughing.  We toured 2 cruise ships in one day!  The Carnival Spirit and the Elation.

These  are the Carnival  ships which make San Diego their home for now.  The Spirit has a longer itinerary cruising the Mexican Riviera on 7day  cruises.  The Elation has 3-4 day itineraries down the Mexican coast.

San Diego is one of the best cruise ports you can visit.  Everything is within walking distance. we walked from our hotel to the port it only took 15 min. Seaport Village is right next to the port.  Along with the USS Midway.  Horton Plaza is a few blocks away for some great shopping!

Where do all the USC fans go in San Diego on gameday?

If you are a USC   fan (of which I am)  then check out the Tilted Kilt in the Gaslamp across from Petco Park.  Great Sports bar, atmosphere lent itself to game watching.  I  wasn’t thrilled with the  drink i ordered. It seemed watered down the beer is good though.  The food is just so-so.  We arrived around 5pm  before the crowds.  By 6:30 it was packed with lines outside the door.  What made the the night great was being able to watch the SC game with other fans!  I would definitely go here again!  FIGHT ON USC!!!!!!!
